About Liberty Chiropractic – Wellness Way Knoxville

Liberty Chiropractic Wall LogoEntering my 20th year in practice I was looking for a name to identify who we are. Looking back and looking forward I understand that we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. Those that fought for a principle of truth and health. Chiropractors who, in 1918 saved the lives of those sent home to die from the swine flu epidemic. The medical community averaged 950 deaths/ 10,000. Under chiropractic care only 25/ 10,000 were lost! Despite the amazing results the medical community waged a war against chiropractic. Through 1931 some 12,000 chiropractors were convicted and jailed for practicing chiropractic.

Chiropractors stayed strong. The AMAs “council on quackery” established to undermine chiropractic, promoted the lie that chiropractic was unscientific. They stated it was unethical to refer to a chiropractor. This lie was defeated in an antitrust law suit in 1987.

BJ Palmer, the founder of chiropractic stated “Medicine is the study of disease and what makes a man to die. Chiropractic is the study of health and what causes man to live.” In 125 years of chiropractic there has been amazing advancements in technology, technique and research yet the principle of chiropractic has remained unchanged. Truth doesn’t change with time.

We fight against ignorance. We fight against those that would spread lies and misconceptions about health. We fight against those that say you have no choice in healthcare. We fight against a pharmaceutical industry that spends $24 billion on advertising and promotion. Despite their efforts Chiropractic is still strong. We’re still fighting. We’re still moving forward. We’re ready for the challenges of the future. Most important we stand strong and fight for the health of our patients, our communities, our country and the world.

Dr. Jason Smith of Liberty Chiropractic

Dr. Jason Smith

Dr Jason Smith, or “Doc” as most will know him, is as analytical as analytical gets. The reason I start out with that sentence is that it speaks to the fact that he wants to get it right. No matter what it is, he wants to do it right and that is innate to who he is. So when you come into Liberty Chiropractic, you aren’t just coming for an adjustment…you are saying yes to getting it right.

Dr. Jason Smith was born in Texas, raised in Kansas, and attended high school in Georgia. In all of these states, he wrestled and over the years developed the character of an elite athlete who learned to sacrifice wants for the need to achieve, put hard work before play, to set goals and achieve them all the way to becoming a high school State Champion for Troup County in Georgia. He went on to wrestle for Carson Newman University and graduated with a bachelors of Science.

Jason continued his education at Life Chiropractic University to fulfill his dream of being a chiropractor. After graduating Magma cum laude, he went to Dothan, AL and practiced under a seasoned, well-established Chiropractor. When it was time to put down roots, he and his wife Cyndi knew that their roots were in east Tennessee. So, in 1998, his dream finally came to reality. Doc hung his very own sign and began his practice here in Knoxville. Over the years he made some name changes, upgrades, and acquired more education. The one thing that has not changed is his passion to help people lead a high quality of life. Doc has had the same vision since the beginning, to release people to live up to their full potential and provide healing and hope to others. His philosophy in life is if you’re going to do something, go all out and be your best. He carries this out daily in how he cares for his patients, himself and his hobbies. He is certified in upper cervical care, extremity adjusting, Chiropractic BioPhysics, Active Release Techniques, and whiplash trauma. He’s a nationally recognized speaker on health and wellness and a published research author.

Jason met his wife Cyndi at Carson Newman, and they married in January of his junior year. They have been married for almost 30 years and have three amazing young adults, Zachary, Cassie and Eli all ranging in age from 28 to 17. He takes life and the ability to live it freely, seriously. That is why he changed his name to Liberty Chiropractic and coined the phrase “Give me liberty or give me death! Give me, Liberty Chiropractic!” He lives, breathes and believes in what he does and knows it will bring liberty and freedom from pain and disease.

Courtney of Liberty Chiropractic

Courtney

Courtney has been with us for five years so far, and she is irreplaceable. Courtney is a small town girl that excelled in academics as well as in her passion for cheerleading. Courtney earned various prestigious titles, such as: National Champion, UCA All-Star and NCA All- American in her career as a flyer in her cheer squad. After high school, Courtney attended the University of Tennessee and received her degree in Kinesiology with minors in both, History and Anthropology.

Courtney is a glass half full kind of girl and lives each day with a spark that cannot help but catch fire. She owns a Subaru and spends lots of time modifying and driving it for fun. She plays softball and tumbles to keep her competitive spirit satisfied. She enjoys four-wheeling in her jeep; however, hands down her first love is spending time with her family, especially her 6 nieces and nephews.

Courtney came to us with lots of knowledge but has soaked up so much more in her years here. She is our “utility” team member, meaning that she can step into and fill the front desk, marketing, and be your biggest cheerleader on the therapy floor (and off) without missing a beat. Courtney is who you will be doing your therapy with and she is 100% on your side. We are so happy to have her on our team and appreciate all she does for us as well as our patients.

Cassie of Liberty Chiropractic

Cassie

Meet Cassie. She is the first smile you will see when you come in and the last one you will see as you leave. Cassie is our Office Manager who keeps us running smoothly and helps us to continue moving forward in our social media presence and communication.

Cassie is a born athlete, competitive, and goal-oriented. She graduated High School from Hardin Valley Academy where she played soccer on a regional championship team and was a State Champion on her track team. Cassie moved on to Carson Newman University where she continued her track career all four years. She then graduated with her BS in Business/Marketing.

Cassie loves to travel and has a special love for Maui where she spent many summers surfing, working, and exploring. After College, Cassie moved to San Diego for a year to work and enjoy the Southern California life. I bet if you ask her, she will say her biggest and best accomplishment is her son Zaiden. Together Cassie and Zai explore the adventure that is life. Cassie has an intense and personal story of her own that includes both Chiropractic and The Wellness Way. She is happy to share how and why she is so passionate about healthy living!
